Ukrainian Storytelling for Children

Alla and I did another very positive fundraising storytelling event on ZOOM  last night aimed at adults: WE STAND FOR UKRAINE.

Here is the recording of this very special World Storytelling Day event featuring Ukrainian storyteller Alla Goeksu, young musician and singer Daryna in Kyiv and her multi-instrumentalist uncle Iwan together with me, David Heathfield. What a joy it is in these darkest times to be celebrating Ukrainian culture through story, music and song.

Scottish storyteller Rona Barbour and American storyteller Laura Simms also tell stories as well as 'Storytellers of Old Tampa Bay' hosts Ross Tarr and Jim Kissane among others.

Letter 2

Hello Hania,

I think we might have met many moons ago when I had a brief stint with the wondrous Pilgrim's crew way back in 2007 (I had to check my CV).

Right after that the Polish influx tightened up incoming foreigners and sadly I was no longer able to work with you all.

Richard Cooper and I lived together that summer and became friends.

All that to say that I do have a connection with you and the HLT and would like to be able to glean some support if possible. My colleague, Mohsin Tejani (currently head of SPELT)  and I developed an online experience over the initial pandemic year.

We launched it and had a highly successful first cohort last year, with a community of ten from my former trainees and his other contacts plus both of our mentors (!).

We would like to find a larger audience and make it an ongoing course offering but are currently stumped on the marketing end. Hopefully some HLT readers will be intrigued.

Letter 4

High there,

Back in college, I almost gave up on learning languages. My classes and textbooks were tedious and boring. New grammar and vocab didn’t stick because it wasn’t meaningful, but learning with content I enjoyed changed that.

Why?
